True Voice English Joins Scottish Government Catalyst to Grow Language Training for Artists
This autumn, we’re proud to share that True Voice English has been accepted into Techscaler Catalyst — a 10-week accelerator programme funded by the Scottish Government to support founders building innovative, impactful businesses.
We were selected because of our work creating specialised language training for artists and creatives — helping designers, architects, jewellers, makers, and other professionals develop precise, confident voices in English.

Planting seeds (and watching them grow)
Our journey began earlier this year, when we were shortlisted for the Scottish Regional Edge Awards. We didn’t win, and at the time, it felt like a closed door.
But a representative heard our pitch and encouraged us to apply for Techscaler.
That hard door slam caused a door to open somewhere else.
Artists and designers: we know that not every application or effort pays off right away.
But every step gets your files in order, rehearses your message, and gets your work visible to a new audience.
And it is useful to remind yourself: sometimes it takes months for those seeds to sprout.

Why Language Training for Artists is Hard to Start
It’s not that we don’t want English progress.
It’s that visualising the future version of ourselves feels too abstract to invest in.
That’s what holds so many of us back.
We know the future artist or creative we want to be — presenting confidently, sharing our work globally, speaking with authority.
But that version can feel distant, abstract and formless.
So we wait.
We put English on the back burner.
And months slip into years.

You may think you need to decide on the future of your English now, but you don’t.
Maybe the thing that’s keeping you stuck is feeling like you have to decide — once and for all — what the perfect solution for your English is.
Try the Train Window Challenge:
Next time you’re travelling, let your mind wander.
Dream about what your life would feel like with more fluent English.
Your first step towards it doesn’t have to feel like a decision.
It can feel like an experiment.
What if you stopped “deciding” and started “experimenting” with your English?
An Experiment in English
The good news is, you don’t need the whole picture of your future self to begin.
You just need to run an experiment.
When you frame something as an experiment, you remove the pressure of choosing “the perfect solution.” You simply try, test, and see what grows.
That’s how doors open. That’s how opportunities appear.
It’s how one application turned into an accelerator place for us.
And it’s how one small step in English can transform your creative future.
It’s impossible to visualise the exact break your future might offer, but you can believe they are out there. And strong communication skills will help you get them.

Online English Tuition for Artists
That’s why we created Sketchbook — our 12-week course for artists, designers, and makers.
It weaves language learning into the heart of your creative practice, combining:
→ Daily creative challenges with follow-up conversations
→ Real-world 1:1 conversations with UK artists & designers
→ Precision English coaching for clarity and confidence
Sketchbook isn’t your end goal.
No single course is.
But it is an experiment that can plant the seeds of confidence, fluency, and opportunity in your professional future.
